Like Infinitely Coursing Water – Limitless Cause and Illimitable Effect

The moment is like a moving mirror, reflecting the wildly complex and vast network of causes, as a massive and limitless array of effects.

Like all the springs and streams, all the rivers and rains, all flowing into one pool, from which is born aloft a fountain. A fountain of time, a timeless emergence.

Fragile is the Seed on its Way to the Sunshine

Once upon a time there was a seed, and it had been tossed and turned about in the soil. It was anxious and unhappy, for it was sure there was something it needed to do. It was as if it had forgotten why it was here, and as if the conditions were not quite right for it.

So one lovely day, one gorgeous, auspicious morning, it had a glimpse of the sunshine. It  saw something so beautiful, bright, and wonderful that it wished to crack open, unfurl and grow, so that it could once again know that warmth and brightness.

Hearing The Song of Awakening

Change is coming. If you become still and listen, it is whispering. Resonating with life, overwhelming beauty. Set the intention to listen, to be guided by music which may be barely audible, but may be driving your dance in this world. Continue reading Hearing The Song of Awakening

Seeding Planetary Karma – How to Effect Change

I woke up this morning with a vision, whether from dreams or the ether, or from the simple conditions of reflection and writing about dharma and ecology, from the frustrations and the wish to change the way we live in a meaningful way. I wrote an article about purifying our karma, about taking charge of the network of conditions that is creating our personal reality and forming our daily lives and our levels of happiness (here) and this vision was to apply the same principles to the world.

There is a shift happening, all the conditions are forming for change. Just as the present world is formed by layer after layer of conditions, just as it is dependent on certain conditions, attitudes or beliefs, on certain economic realities, so it is certain to pass away due to conditions and changing perceptions, attitudes and beliefs. Reality, or the world, is like a garden, and we are its gardeners. Continue reading Seeding Planetary Karma – How to Effect Change

A Book of Light, and the Whispers of a Buddha

So I have a beautiful new book, it is already precious to me, as I sit, and the teachings of conditionality, or pratitya samutpada quietly echo and thunderously resound through my consciousness.

A new dharma book that I am looking forward to reading. To me it contains wisdom, the promise of raising my level of consciousness, it affords me a feeling of virtue, of purity. Strangely, amazingly fortunate that I am sitting here with it. The causes and conditions of this bizarre confluence overwhelms.

Deliciously complex, yet ever so simple, all that leads to me sat here reflecting on dharma. You might gently apply this wisdom to the situation of you sitting reading this article. Now I’m going to use this wonderful situation for insight, without reading it. I’m going to dissolve it. Simple concepts, profound if experience.

Karma and the Now – Purifying the Old Threads and Creating the New

In its simplest sense, karma is like a neural pathway, a pattern of thinking made regular, a pattern of habit made into effect. Cause and effect, this being that becomes, this ceasing to be that ceasing to be. There is only one thing we can do about the karma that is forming our consciousness and our world in this exact moment, and that is to set an intention to create new and positive karma. In this exact moment karma is forming, and this is worthy of reflection.
